A clean and well-kept beach with a rock structure that looks like the head of Jesus Christ.
Being one of the many exotic little coves and beaches on Catanduanes island; Talisoy Beach makes for a great opportunity to spend the day with friends and family. It's a clean and well-kept beach that features a miraculous rock structure strongly resembling the head of Jesus Christ...
Just minutes away from Virac City, you will find a very nice little beach called Talisoy Beach. It's managed by a barangay called Talisoy to generate some extra income. That's why there's an entrance fee of 50 PHP (0.94 PHP), and cottages are also available for rent. According to the locals, the beach was originally called Tampad Beach, but regionally it is now known as Talisoy Beach. Other names used for this beach are 'Talisoy Cove' or 'Jesus Face Beach'. The image below shows quite well why they also call it 'Jesus Face Beach'.
Filipinos are in general magical thinkers and hold a special meaning to different types of rock structures around the country; but with this one it's real easy to see the resemblance. If you're traveling the Philippines long enough, you will encounter such rock formations (that are in the shape of holy figures or scenes) multiple times. Whether you believe or not, it's cool to see that from the beach, it looks like the head of Jesus, while from other angles it does not.
As you can see in the following drone photos, Talisoy Beach is a small beach, and part of several coves decorating Catanduanes' rocky coastline.
Even though small in size, Talisoy Beach makes for a swell little cove to spend the day at. Its fine sand and calm waters makes for a great chilling environment. A short tricycle ride away from Virac City, a small entrance fee, and you can settle down at a calm, quiet beach that's worth the travel. Rent a cottage or lay your self down at the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and the Jesus Face rock structure about 70 meters away.
